The MEI Trinary Switch 1589 performs three functions, it prevents compressor operation if system has refrigerant loss, or ambient temperature drops too low. It prevents compressor operation if high side pressure rises too high, it then automatically resets when pressure drops to normal. And lastly it overrides shutter/fan control to keep head pressure within normal range.
